Church Anniversary
Mt. Olive celebrates their anniversary each April looking back at the wonderful things God has done. After stepping out on faith and led by the vision of the Holy Spirit, several trustees purchased land to erect a church on 4 ½ acres of land. Church service was originally held on alternating Sundays. The congregation saw that the need to assemble every Sunday and was granted permission to do so. As each generation grew, so did the congregation. Multiple pastors passed through Mt. Olive and services were held in the community building that was housed on the land. Leaders of Mt. Olive saw a need for a larger space to hold service. Under the leadership of Rev. Arthur W. Canada, and several trustees, fundraising efforts were launched to start the process of building a bigger church. Through trials and tribulations, Mt Olive stood on the word of God, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9. In late March of 1976, construction on the new edifice was started. Worship services continued in the community building. After about a year or more, the minister and congregation were able to hold its first service in the new structure on Palm Sunday, April 3, 1977.2 The church had worked hard to make a dream come true. Today church leadership, Rev. Willie Keaton and the congregation continues to work to keep the vision alive. We invite you to share in this dream.
